# 44. Top holders: check a token before you buy

See who holds a token, how much the creator holds, and how concentrated the supply is.

**Open:** any token page on [the Spawn Feed](https://spawnmeme.com/launchpad) and scroll to **Top holders**.

### What the card shows

* **Creator holds:** the creator wallet's current share of supply, and how much it bought at launch. "Not in top 20" means the creator's wallet is not among the 20 largest holders; it does not mean their balance is zero.
* **Top 10 wallets:** how much the ten largest wallets hold together. The bonding-curve pool is not counted.
* **The list:** the 20 largest holders, read from Solana, with the **Bonding curve** pool and the **Creator** labelled. Tap an address to open it on Solscan. Press **Show all** to see past the first ten.

Shares are of total supply. The card refreshes after you trade on the page.

### How to read it

1. Early in a token's life the bonding curve holds most of the supply. That is normal.
2. Look at the creator's share and compare it with what they bought at launch. A lower balance can reflect sales or transfers; the card alone does not establish the creator's intent.
3. Look at the top 10 share. A high figure means a few wallets could move the price.
4. Check the mint address, the curve progress and recent trades as well.

One person can control several wallets, so treat the card as a guide and not a guarantee.

### Troubleshooting

| Symptom                                               | What to do                                                 |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| "Holder data is unavailable right now" | Reload the page in a moment. |
| "Could not refresh just now; showing the last result" | The last successful reading is shown. Reload to try again. |
| The creator is not labelled | The creator wallet is not among the 20 largest holders. |

**Success:** you can see the creator's share and the top 10 share before you decide.

### Combine holdings with other evidence

Use the [RugCheck report and optional holder map](/spawnmeme-docs/feature-guides/discover-and-trade/56-risk-reports.md), [token-lock schedules](/spawnmeme-docs/feature-guides/launch-and-manage-tokens/54-token-locks.md) and [creator profile](/spawnmeme-docs/feature-guides/launch-and-manage-tokens/52-creator-profiles.md) alongside the holder table. A cancellable lock, paid DEX profile, badge or linked wallet does not establish independent ownership or guarantee future conduct.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://spawnmeme.gitbook.io/spawnmeme-docs/feature-guides/discover-and-trade/44-top-holders.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
